It's not so far from San Clemente to Sydney, if you're Kolohe Andino. In his first ASP World Tour event, the young Andino proved that he belonged. Unintimidated, but perhaps with some awe, Andino met up with 11-time World Champ Kelly Slater and Australian Garrett Parkes in the first round of the Quiksilver Pro. Andino was blown away but not daunted, coming back to get his first heat win in round two before falling to Adriano De Souza in round three. If this was trial by fire, Andino never even got scorched. Intense, well-coached and with confidence building, Kolohe Andino is definitely a rising star the tour veterans will have to contend with. Next up for the rookie, Bells Beach.
